The Market Place

"Convergence" - coming together, to meet, to join.

"Compute" - automated mapping and integration of information technology environments available to a user.

The market for converged mobile telecommunications and computing devices, applications and services is experiencing strong growth. The ability to access data through mobile telephones and other devices is now sought after by both business and consumer users alike. This growth in demand will significantly increase the scope to exploit the Worldlink patents, as companies continue to develop their products and services to allow for a more seamless and robust experience that is inclusive of mobile devices.

The total global market for all forms of mobile sport and leisure data services (content and messaging), is estimated to be $4.17 billion.  This market is forecast to grow to just under $9.5 billion by 2011.  Sports content and services are expected to grow from just over $1 billion in 2006 to nearly $3.9 billion in 2011, driven by increasing 3G penetration in all regions and increased licensing of sports content for mobile.  This is a cumulative annual growth rate of 27%. (Source: White Paper – Mobile Sport and Leisure Essentials – Third Edition, Juniper Research). With the advent of more powerful mobile telephones, the ability to access transmitted sporting data immediately is now expected by most consumers.  As a result, Worldlink is well-placed to capitalise on this.
